Tarot birth card calculator

Your tarot birth card is the Major Arcana card you get from the sum of the digits of your date of birth. In the tarot tradition it is read as a lifelong archetype: your strengths, your key lessons and your path of growth.

Example: 25 October 1990 → 2 + 5 + 1 + 0 + 1 + 9 + 9 + 0 = 27 → 2 + 7 = 9 → The Hermit (IX).

How to calculate your birth card

Add up all the digits of your date of birth: day, month and year. If the total is greater than 21, add the digits of the total again — and repeat until you get a number from 1 to 21. That is the number of your Major Arcana card.

How is a birth card different from a card of the day?
Your birth card never changes — it depends only on your date of birth. A card of the day is a daily prompt you draw each morning.
Why can’t The Fool be a birth card?
The Fool is numbered 0, and the digits of any date always add up to more than zero. So with this method the result is always between I (The Magician) and XXI (The World).
Are there other ways to calculate it?
Yes. Some tarot readers add the day, month and year as whole numbers and then reduce the total. The results often match, but not always. We use the digit sum — the same as the Numen app.
What if my birth card feels “bad”?
No Major Arcana card is bad: even Death or The Tower speak of renewal and letting go of what no longer serves you. A birth card describes a lesson, not a punishment.
